Editor’s note: I wrote this the day after Palin announced she would not be running for President for the 2012 general election cycle.

GAME (STILL) ON!

Hero worship in any form is unhealthy and steals from us the ability to be free thinkers. I have admired Sarah Palin and her career since August 2008 when she was first introduced to the country as John McCain’s running mate. I immediately saw myself in her and her values.

Today is my birthday and on my birthday in years past, I have written about her several times. I am inspired by the courage of the woman and her values. I am also deeply appreciative of her being an ordinary person. She has been thrust, probably unwillingly, into a hot spotlight. The position she has found herself in over the last three years after the November 2008 decision probably hasn’t been comfortable or desirable. She has made tough choices, almost all of which I agree with.

I view Sarah Palin not as a person to be worshipped—I view her as an idea and a symbol of what our great nation can be. She encouraged me to begin to learn how politics works. I must admit that I have never been as knowledgeable about or as engaged in our country’s wellbeing as I am right now. I can honestly thank her for the inspiration. She has strived to awaken the inner patriot in all of us. Just like our founders—who were human and were not perfect—she is human and imperfect. I don’t for one minute think that she has misled or deceived any of us. She sought to light a patriotic spirit. Was it she who furthered the idea of her running for president, or did she always promise us that she was giving it prayerful consideration. I think the latter is more accurate, and I believe all of us die-hard Palin fans have put our own interpretation on whatever her words or deeds have been. At the risk of seeming harsh, our feelings are hurt, our egos are bruised and we want someone to account to us for the perceived wrong we have collectively suffered. But we are all responsible for the choices we make in supporting a candidate. We can’t foresee anyone replacing her, as she is the “gold standard.”

It is important to right the wrong course the nation is currently on. We must continue to believe that one single individual can make a difference. We must continue to search for our own abilities and talents, and to apply them where they will make the most positive effect. That notion is the truth of what Sarah Palin means. I will still fight to save the country, regardless of whether Palin is in office or not.

I know everyone has missed me terribly! Occasionally, my work or personal life just gets so crazy that I have no time or energy to blog. I have something remarkable occur every day of my life, but sometimes I just have to bask in it solo, rather than inflict it on the unsuspecting masses. Several pretty awful things have gone on this month, namely passage of the gargantuan health care debacle as well as a good hard slap on the face of our most important ally–Israel. In the coming days, I will join millions of other people who have written about the distractions that surrounded the health care fallout. There is really only one effective way in which to process the actions of the administration and the liberals in Congress and that is to remember the rules for radicals that Saul Alinsky wrote about. When you devour every story under that frame of reference, you gain focus and clarity. And you learn the most important rule about giving it right back. We are at a disadvantage, however. We were raised to be decent, trusting people who play fair. We were not raised to hate America. It is our very love for America that will be our salvation; I am sure of it.

This is a warning for all the Republicrats out there. That’s my term for people in the Republican party who occasionally morph into big spenders and retreat from their conservative principles. Think hard on ways to keep your message focused on what the TEA PARTY people are saying. The TEA PARTY folks are not gunning for a third party situation. That would be disastrous. TEA is an acronym for “Taxed Enough Already.” In my opinion (based solely on empirical data gleaned since Summer 2008), the “gas” for this vehicle was produced on the day that the story of Barack Obama’s statement to “Joe the Plumber” hit the airwaves. Remember that fateful day? Obama told Joe he wanted to “spread the wealth.” How does one go about that? He taxes the fire out of the folks who are still lucky enough to have jobs, or he prints so much money that our mint is the most active printing press in America, or he leverages us to the Chinese who HATE US.

Listen up, establishment, button-down Republicans who are going to dinner with Dems in Washington and porking it up in the budget committee. WE HATE THAT. The more projects you bring home to us, the more of our cash you are stealing. Let’s live within our means in this country. Every pay period, I have to carefully budget my dwindling paycheck. That’s going on at every house across America with one or more wage earner. That’s the process that is becoming more and more prevalent and causing the participants in the TEA PARTY to “blow their lid.” Ignore it at your peril. Listen to it, and you will thrive in the good knowledge that you helped save us.

When was the last time someone else paid for YOUR booze and food?

Nancy Pelosi, in case you don’t know, is the Speaker of the House (SOTH). I would add an “L” in there to make it humorous, but that’s not what I plan for this post. A good group with “justice” in the name made a FOIA request to know how much it costs for the Air Force to fly her around, since she’s so precious and special. It cost in 2009 $2M for US to make sure she got to go home and other places. In addition, we paid $101,000 for “in-flight” goodies. These goodies are booze and food. I resent paying for her to get drunk or anyone else flying with her to get drunk. Maybe that sounds small and petty. WHISKEY and BEER are not necessities for her safety “in flight” Let the troll pay for it herself!!!

I am a government employee. I have been in government for many years and have not yet assimilated fully. Why is that, you ask? Because I was raised by conservative parents with a strong appreciation for hard work. I also married a man with whom I ran a small business. We are not “grant-friendly” people, because of demographic status. In other words, we are not minority business enterprise entitled. Whatever success we were to have, we would have to do it on our own. Because of that and other factors, we failed in our small business. The experience we have with running that small business puts us in a unique position to know the pitfalls and joys of that enterprise. The POTUS has never had to make a payroll, do inventory control, pay for supplies or file a sales tax return. Therefore, is it ANY surprise at all that his only frame of reference is to come up with “tax credits” for small businesses who hire an employee? It doesn’t work that way. You give TAX CUTS to small business and then get the HELL out of the way.

But, since I’m not an intellectual, I would not know as much as you do, Mr. President. GOD HELP US.

Sacrificing James O’Keefe on the alter of ACORN

As soon as I saw the headlines yesterday regarding James O’Keefe’s arrest for some federal crime that I have never heard of, I figured that the hard left and ideologues on all the leftie blogs would salivate at the thought of somehow making a moral equivalency argument. In their sick and twisted minds, James O’Keefe’s actions (whatever they turn out to be) completely absolve the nutjobs employed at ACORN. These people, who have been conspiring for years with the assistance of our tax dollars to promote unspeakable acts (among those child prostitution if you believe the videotapes that O’Keefe and his partner produced after going undercover at various ACORN offices around the country), feel vindicated today, according to their “leader” Bertha Lewis.

Explain to me, if you will, how the as yet undiscovered factual basis for James O’Keefe’s arrest has anything to do with the actions documented on those videotapes? Also, please explain to me why CNN, MSNBC, and all the other major media outlets justify immediately reporting on O’Keefe’s arrest (complete with self-righteous innuendo and commentary) did not treat the ACORN expose’ with the same zeal and interest? Not only does the media conspire to detract negative information that might hurt Obama and everything associated with him, it also sets out to destroy those who have raised valid legal questions.

Pray tell–will O’Keefe be given the same courtesy as the baton-wielding thugs from Philly? Somehow, I doubt it.

America Acted Stupidly

The President is in denial. According to what I have read in the online political reporting this weekend, he has given over 400 speeches. Incredibly, he tells George Stephanopolous in an interview last week that he feels he has not been able to get his message out. We got your message, YRH, we just don’t like it.

That’s right, Mr. President; we don’t agree with your policies to the tune of over 55% of us (according to one of Rasmussen’s latest polls). Now put your high-falutin’ nose to the grindstone and get to the business of effective governing. Otherwise, we’ll put someone in there who will.

She Did, She Did Act like a Lady

Michelle Bachmann is a nice lady from Minnesota, from everything I’ve seen. Arlen Specter is an old fart from Pennsylvania who needs to retire. About 20 times yesterday, I heard the audio of an exchange that occurred on Dom Giordano’s program yesterday. I suspect that Bachmann and Specter were discussing the health care bill and analyzing the Brown election (at least that is what it sounded like).

Where Sean Hannity picked up the conversation on his show was the point at which Specter raised a point that Bachmann disagreed with, so she commented. Specter started demanding very sternly that she not interrupt him and that she “act like a lady.” Let me tell you; she was extremely ladylike and no doubt in shock.

I am about the same age as Bachmann and I have experienced similar treatment in my career. You never get used to people talking to you like that no matter how experienced you are. The only other comment I would make is that Specter seemed to be an “ageist” rather than a sexist, because he later went on to say the same thing to the host, Dom Giordano, when Dom stepped in to try to regain control. (with the exception of the “act like a lady” part). He really came across as an extremely cranky old man and you could almost picture him shaking his cane at the two and saying “you kids get off my lawn!”

New Game Plan

I have never been actively competitive in a sport. I regret that my parents did not have time or inclination to instill that important value in me. Even so, if everyone played sports, no one would be around to watch sports. Just because I’ve never played sports, though, that doesn’t mean I don’t get the point of competition. The lessons involved are 1. play hard 2. do your best 3. be a good sport 4. lose graciously 5. win graciously 6. learn from your mistakes.

I don’t really see that many of the people in charge in Washington have ever fully embraced these lessons. If they don’t review the game tapes and revamp their strategy, the whole look of the Congress after 2010 and 2012 will be new blood. That would be awesome, considering the way we American voters have been treated lately. C’mon Washington, get a new game plan.
