Today, something really important happened. Did you miss it? Do you read The Drudge Report? I tried to insert a link here, but I am not good at html. Hubby holds hand a lot
But I digress–Nancy Pelosi is on Drudge today, much against her will I’d guess, saying that insurance companies are the villains. Harry Reid is out there talking trash on insurance companies too. What does it all mean, you ask? It means that when Obama says “You can keep your coverage with my bill” I say HOGWASH. The liberals in Congress are licking their chops and twisting arms on bluedogs with the specific intent of putting private insurers right out of business. Pay attention Humana, Anthem, etal. You are in the cross hairs.

Affirmative Action Studies
July 27, 2009Something else I have learned about life this week is the following: our tax dollars and many private funds are supporting the furtherance of racial hatred in this country. It has become abundantly clear to me after reading the Gates-gate story and looking at the transcripts of the 911 call and other historical recordings of statements made by Gates, he brokers in hatred. The single most productive outcome of this ridiculous situation would be if there could be some leadership in the black community that places personal responsibility in its proper priority. If something happens to you that you don’t like, maybe you can do something positive to change it. Maybe you can forgo, just this once, the temptation to attack a whole group of people because one member did something you don’t like. Maybe you can set a better example, and encourage the people whom you formerly indoctrinated toward hating that class, to actually find common ground with that class. But that isn’t possible in the world of people who MAKE MONEY and support their livelihood by fostering difference and hatred, rather than healing. They have to further the existence of the division and hatred to ensure the continued lifeblood of their financial payoff they enjoy. I don’t like being profiled, stereotyped or hated for the color of my skin any more than they do. I don’t do it, and I don’t want it done. It’s wrong, no matter who does it. So how about this–stop funding the growth industry of hate mongering by giving special funds to black studies, white studies, green studies, yellow studies, orange studies, blue studies, etc. Let’s just take all of America into one big study and learn from it. Protected classes have all advanced significantly and integrated into society in droves. ENOUGH.

Is there ANYONE who is Above the law?
July 25, 2009Three days later, I am still baffled as to how the President thought it was helpful to bring to the forefront an episode that clearly exhibits his and his friend’s attitude that important people don’t have to obey the law. I, like Greta Van Susteren, would like to listen to all the audio that was made at the time of the incident in Cambridge, starting with when Professor Gates’ neighbor called the police to report a break-in at his home. Later, I will blog separately on the impact of Professor Gates not knowing his neighbor, but that is for another day. I can tell you, as a rural resident, I love a concerned neighbor. They are the saving grace of society. I want someone to call the police if they see someone breaking into my home. On the surface, based on what we know through media reports of the incident, neighbor calls 911 and reports the break-in. Sgt. James Crowley is in the vicinity and goes to the residence. He sees that in fact people are there and appear to have entered unlawfully. Like a dutiful police officer, sworn to protect and serve, he inquires and asks the “suspect” to step outside. He has no way of knowing up to this point–from all indications–that the person who broke in is the forgetful owner returning from vacation. The officer is trying to protect property and lives. What does he get in return?? Tongue-lashing belligerence from Mr. Gates. Comments intended to incite and escalate, from what it appears, were thrown at the officer after the point at which he confirmed that Gates was who he said he was. Gates should have left it alone. But people like Gates have apparently not been raised to respect and admire the job of a policeman. Instead, the police are viewed suspiciously, as if they are there to falsely accuse and racially profile. How insulting to Sgt. Crowley to accuse him of racial profiling, of all things! Did the caller say “there’s a black man breaking into a neighbor’s house, and I don’t know my neighbor, but he can’t possibly be black so could you send a white, preferably racist police officer so that I’ll feel comfortable in my quest to exclude men of color from my block?” DOUBT IT. Gates and Obama don’t have just a chip on the shoulder; they have the whole boulder. Guess what, dudes? Not every white officer hates black people! But, every officer has a sworn duty to investigate what appears to be a crime, and make satisfactory effort to determine the truth. That does not logically invite derision or insults, and I don’t think anyone on Planet Earth legitimately believes that a police officer investigating a burglary is “acting stupidly” for taking cautious steps to ensure both his safety and the safety of the occupant(s) of the home and the neighbors. That’s what these two Harvard Professors don’t get. Well I get it. You don’t have the right to be protected from arrest or exonerated from unacceptable or criminal behavior because you are a Harvard Professor or because you’re friends with the President. Shame on both of you for not setting a better example for the young men and women of America, no matter what their skin color or ethnic background. News Flash–YOU ARE THE RACISTS, NOT SGT. CROWLEY.

A Teachable Moment
July 24, 2009There are jobs I have done that have taught me a lot about humility, bullying and what is right. I am not perfect and don’t claim to be. I look back on an almost 19-year career and I see moments during which I want to cringe and say “Did I REALLY say/do that?” But you learn from those moments. Those are what most sane, rational, mature adults call teachable moments. But alas, the most sullen, self-centered, narcissistic person with a permanent microphone in front of him has used this term out of context and put a different spin on it.
President Barack Obama set Lynn Sweet up on Wednesday night at his press conference (I refuse to use that idiotic term “presser”) to give him a platform to spew his hateful, accusatory comments about a hard-working, veteran police officer who was doing his job. The “teachable moment” was missed. Professor Gates was in the wrong, from everything I have read. President Obama should have said Professor Gates’ situation is a private matter and not my concern. But if he wanted to comment and accomplish a teachable moment, he could have said, “I wish Professor Gates would have thanked the officer, as that would have set an example of respect toward law enforcement.”

Confused and Irrational–Yep, that’s the Liberal Movement alright.
July 6, 2009The liberal, left-wing bloggers are no doubt salivating at the chance to bring down Sarah Palin. How many words have been written about this woman in the last 11 months? Has anyone dared to count? I personally have written well over 10,000 words. I am just one little lonely voice of admiration in a sea of hatred and vilification. I pity the people on the right who are not brave enough or smart enough to stand up for Sarah. That plants them squarely among the establishment. It is the bold, brave and courageous few who can see her for who she is. As Monica Crowley so eloquently stated a few weeks ago on the O’Reilly Factor program, she constitutes an existential threat to the current political powers-that-be. She also constitutes a threat to lukewarm RINOs who are too ashamed, afraid or spineless to be true conservatives. There are true conservatives in this country who are pleading for their voice to be heard. I am PROUD to support someone whose philosophies mirror my own, whose values I share, and who can artfully speak for us. The West and the East Coasts don’t understand her; she scares them with her normalness. She is WE. We are she. I appreciate her carrying the pitchfork for me, since I am too busy working and taking care of my family to do it myself. Be afraid Liberals. You ain’t seen nothing yet, like a woman who is strong and courageous enough to turn down the government check while she pursues a more nationwide calling. Unlike the others (Clinton, Obama, McCain, Biden), she doesn’t think it’s all about her. She knows it’s all about US.

Women in this world CAN think for themselves. Believe it OR NOT
July 4, 2009Jack Palance, when he hosted Ripley’s Believe it or Not in the 1970s or 1980s, had such a cool inflection in his voice. Believe it . . . or NOT. I still get chills when I imagine him saying that. I use it a lot too. With great apologies to him, God rest his soul.
Why am I blogging today? Sarah Palin–quite possibly the single most misunderstood woman in American history– at least in my memory of it, announced her resignation as Alaska’s governor in yesterday’s news. Let me tell you again why I like and respect Sarah Palin so much. She is human, and unashamed of her flaws. She is a Christian, and unashamed of it. She is proudly conservative. She runs a tight ship; she loves her family, even though they’re not perfect. She accepts what life deals her without complaining about it. She calls out the wrongs like no one else. She is HONEST.
Please please please, read the book with her picture on the cover. Someone I work with gave it to me for my birthday last year. After I read it, I had a lot more information about her upbringing and her abilities. I respected and admired her even more. If she was a man, she’d be ____________________ (fill in your own blank here). But because she’s a woman (yes, darnit, I said it-sexism rears its ugly head once again) she doesn’t get the respect she deserves. People on the left (and some on the right who are not right with God or the conservative notions) are terrified of her. As well they should be. She plans to reform the corruption in Washington. And anywhere else it exists. John McCain didn’t mean to pick her; I’m convinced of it. He had no idea what he was getting into. But thank God he brought her to our attention. Rock on Sarah. I’m with ya.
